Two Paws Up For Free Spay/Neuter Clinic

A kitten that wandered into the arms of workers at the new Cannondale Animal Clinic needs a home, and so does an older cat currently living at the Danbury Road clinic.

Paula Belknap, the owner of the clinic, said the kitten is an eight-week-old male black and white kitten with extra toes. He was found in a woodpile but is quite tame and sweet, she said, adding that he has a "a gremlin-like face and lots of personality."

The second cat available is a mother cat that had kittens this spring. All of her babies have been adopted, said Ms. Belknap, but mom herself still needs a home.

"She needs an outdoor home, preferably a barn," she said, "She is friendly but shy and has now been spayed. We guess she is about two years old."

Both of the cats have tested negative for feline leukemia and have been vaccinated and wormed. A $75 adoption fee for the kitten will cover the costs of tests, vaccinations and worming, but the new owners will receive a free neuter certificate good at the Cannondale Animal Clinic, said Ms. Belknap. The kitten can be neutered when he is six months old.

The older cat, which has also been tested for diseases, vaccinated, wormed and spayed, is available for adoption at no cost.
